Thronehold Kids Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last weekend playing Thronehold Kids with my little cousins, and I have to say, it was a pretty mixed bag. The game is basically a kid-friendly version of those super popular city-building games, but with a fantasy twist. You get to build and manage your own kingdom, complete with magical creatures, knights, and all that jazz. The graphics are actually pretty cute, with bright colors and fun animations that the kids really loved.

The gameplay is where things get a bit iffy, though. I mean, it's not like the game is hard or anything, but it's just so... repetitive. You build a house, you build a farm, you collect resources, rinse and repeat. Don't get me wrong, the kids seemed to enjoy it at first, but after a few hours, they started to get a bit bored. I was expecting a bit more depth, you know, some kind of storyline or quest system to keep things interesting. But nope, it's just a lot of building and collecting.

That being said, the game does have some pretty cool features. The kingdom you build is actually pretty customizable, with different types of buildings and decorations to choose from. And the magical creatures are really cute, my favorite being the little dragon that you can raise and train. The kids loved sending it out on quests to collect resources and fight off monsters. It's just a shame that the quests are so limited, I mean, you can only do the same ones over and over again before you get bored.

I also have to give the game some credit for being really easy to pick up and play. The controls are super simple, and the game does a great job of explaining everything to you as you go along. My little cousins were able to jump right in and start playing without any help from me, which is definitely a plus. And the game is just so relaxed, you know, there's no pressure or stress, you can just build and collect to your heart's content.

One thing that did get on my nerves a bit was the in-game purchases. I mean, I get it, the game is free to play, so they have to make money somehow. But it just feels like they're really pushing the kids to spend their parents' money on in-game currency and items. The game is already pretty pricey if you want to get all the extra features and stuff, and it just feels like they're taking advantage of kids who don't know any better. I mean, I'm not saying it's the worst thing in the world, but it's just something to be aware of if you're planning on letting your kids play.

Overall, I'd say Thronehold Kids is a decent game for kids who are just starting out with city-builders. It's cute, it's fun, and it's easy to play. Just don't expect too much depth or complexity, and be prepared for the kids to get a bit bored after a while. And if you do decide to let them play, just make sure to keep an eye on those in-game purchases, you don't want them spending all your money without you knowing. Anyway, that's my two cents on Thronehold Kids, take it for what it's worth.
