Breakthrough Team Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last couple of days playing Breakthrough Team and I've got to say, it's been a pretty wild ride. I went into it not really knowing what to expect, but I'd seen some of my friends playing it online and it looked like a lot of fun. The game's got a pretty cool concept - you're part of a team of operatives trying to take down an evil corporation, and you've got to work together to complete missions and take out the bad guys.
So, the gameplay's pretty solid. It's a third-person shooter, and the controls feel pretty responsive. I had a few issues with the cover system at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty seamless. The guns all feel pretty different, which is nice - I hate it when games have a million different guns that all feel the same. And the level design's pretty great too - there are plenty of opportunities to flank and sneak up on enemies, which is always a blast.
But what really makes Breakthrough Team stand out is the co-op play. I played through the campaign with a few friends, and it was an absolute blast. We could all choose our own characters and playstyles, and it felt like we were all working together to take down the enemy. The game's got a great system for reviving each other when we got taken out, which was a lifesaver - I hate it when co-op games just kick you back to the last checkpoint when someone dies. It felt like we were all in it together, and it made the game a lot more enjoyable.
One thing that did bug me a bit was the story. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it's bad or anything - it's just pretty generic. Evil corporation, evil CEO, heroic team of operatives trying to take them down... it's all been done before. And the characters are all pretty one-dimensional - I didn't really feel like I got to know any of them very well. But, to be fair, I wasn't really playing the game for the story - I was playing it for the co-op action, and in that regard, it definitely delivers.
I also had a few issues with the game's difficulty curve. Some of the levels were a breeze, while others were ridiculously hard. I'm not sure if it was just me, but there were a few times when we had to retry a level five or six times before we finally made it through. And the boss fights can be pretty brutal - I'm not sure if I've ever yelled at a screen as much as I did during the final boss fight. But, you know, in a weird way, that was kind of part of the fun. It felt like we'd really accomplished something when we finally took him down.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Breakthrough Team to anyone who's a fan of co-op shooters. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and the co-op play is top-notch. Just be prepared for a few frustrating moments, and don't expect a super compelling story. But if you're just looking for a game to play with your friends, Breakthrough Team is definitely worth checking out. I'm already planning on playing through it again with a different group of friends, and I'm sure we'll have a blast.
