Truck Slam Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Truck Slam and I've got some mixed feelings about it. At first, I thought it was just going to be another one of those silly physics games where you smash stuff and that's it, but it actually turned out to be a bit more than that. The goal of the game is to smash into other trucks and cars to score points, which sounds simple enough, but the execution is where it gets interesting. You've got to time your slams just right to get the most points, and it's actually pretty satisfying when you get it just right.
The graphics in Truck Slam are definitely not the best I've ever seen, but they're not terrible either. The trucks and cars all look pretty basic, but the environments are actually pretty detailed. I found myself smashing through a bunch of different levels, from deserts to cities, and each one had its own unique obstacles and challenges. The sound effects are also pretty cool, with some really satisfying crunching and smashing noises when you hit something. It's not exactly a game that's going to win any awards for its visuals or sound, but it's definitely passable.
One thing that really annoyed me about Truck Slam was the controls. At first, they seemed pretty simple - you just drive your truck around and smash into stuff. But the more I played, the more I realized that the controls were actually pretty finicky. Sometimes my truck would get stuck on a wall or a rock, and I'd have to restart the level. And other times, I'd try to slam into something and my truck would just bounce right off. It was pretty frustrating, especially when I was trying to get a high score. I'm not sure if it's just me being bad at the game or if the controls are actually that bad, but it definitely took some getting used to.
Despite the frustrating controls, I actually found myself having a pretty good time playing Truck Slam. It's one of those games that's just mindless fun - you don't have to think too much, you can just smash stuff and enjoy the ride. And the game has a pretty good sense of progression, with new levels and trucks unlocking as you play. I also liked that the game had a bunch of different modes, from a free play mode where you can just smash stuff to your heart's content, to a challenge mode where you have to complete specific objectives. It's definitely a game that's worth playing if you're looking for something simple and fun.
I'm not sure if I'd recommend Truck Slam to everyone, though. If you're looking for a game with a rich storyline or complex gameplay, this is definitely not the game for you. But if you're just looking for something to play in short bursts, or if you're a fan of physics games, then Truck Slam might be worth checking out. It's not perfect, but it's definitely a fun way to pass the time. And at the price point it's at, I think it's definitely worth giving a shot. Just be prepared for some frustrating controls and you'll be golden.
Overall, I'd say Truck Slam is a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. It's not the best game I've ever played, but it's definitely not the worst either. With a bit more polish and some tighter controls, it could be a really great game. But as it stands, it's just a fun little diversion that's worth playing if you're in the mood for something simple and mindless. If you're a fan of physics games or just looking for something new to play, I'd definitely give Truck Slam a shot. Just don't expect too much and you'll be happy.
